The public is invited to attend an informational meeting on Thursday to hear the results of the Downtown Resource Center’s assessment of Carroll’s downtown. The meeting will be hosted at Western Iowa Networks’ main offices at 1780 Kittyhawk Ave. on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 1:00 p.m. Downtown revitalization experts from the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) will highlight recommendations from their on-site study of the downtown area, which is being held this week, during Thursday’s presentation. The Downtown Assessment team, led by Jim Engle, director of the Iowa Downtown Resource Center, will present findings from their examination of the community’s downtown district. The team plans to highlight strengths, address challenges, and provide practical suggestions for implementation over time. This initiative is a collaboration between the City of Carroll, the Carroll County Growth Partnership (CCGP), and the Carroll Chamber of Commerce. Engle emphasized the importance of honest feedback from qualified professionals in aiding communities to execute successful plans and projects. CCGP and Chamber Executive Director Kimberly Tiefenthaler says, “We’ve been waiting for this opportunity to get on the Downtown Assessment team’s schedule. We look forward to the recommendations and hope this will be a catalyst for good conversations about the future of our downtown. We know our downtown is experiencing change, and we need solutions. We’re looking forward to productive conversations with not only the consultants but also our community members.” The study begins Tuesday, Nov. 28, and runs through Wednesday, Nov. 30. Tiefenthaler will join Carroll Broadcasting tomorrow (Tuesday) morning on KCIM at 8 a.m. to discuss the study further.
