Lois Broich of Omaha, formerly of Carroll

Lois (Stuhr) Broich passed away peacefully on April 8th, 2024, in Omaha, Nebraska, in the loving home of her daughter and son-in-law, Felicia and Donn Parker. Born on April 20, 1931, in Manning, Iowa, she lived a life filled with love, service, and a passion for creating beauty.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Central Church Outreach Center, Former First Presbyterian Church in Carroll with Pastor Gary Magill of Central Church officiating.   Casket bearers will be Aaron McClellan, Brian Johnson, Isaac Broich, Justin Broich, Dylan McClellan, and Dave Parker.  Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery in Manning.

Visitation will be held at the former First Presbyterian Church in Carroll from 12:00 – 1:15 P.M. prior to the service.

Growing up, Lois attended country schools and graduated from Carroll High School in 1948. On January 17, 1950, she married the love of her life, Louis (Louie) Broich. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising six children: Marcia, David, Diane, Teresa, Kim, and Felicia. Lois was a pillar of their home, finding joy in caring for her family and creating a loving home.

Beyond her family, Lois held various jobs, including working at Earl May in Carroll, Juergens Hatchery, Ocoma Foods, and Coast-to-Coast. In her community, she was active in Girl Scouts and was a dedicated member of the Presbyterian Church in Carroll, serving as Elder, Deacon, and holding various leadership positions within the Presbyterian Women’s Circle, to include Women’s Guild President. Her service extended to volunteering her time to help prepare luncheons and funeral dinners.

Lois’s vibrant spirit extended to her hobbies. She had a passion for gardening, baking, and tending to her beautiful flower beds. In her free time, she danced, played cards and dominoes, and enjoyed attending craft shows with her husband, Louis. Together, they created and painted many wooden crafts, showcasing their talents at these events.

Lois had a keen eye for potential, finding unique furniture pieces at auctions to refinish and restore. She was a supportive partner to her husband’s sod business, and she generously provided domestic help to many families in the community.

Lois leaves behind a legacy of love. She is survived by her six children, Marcia Moctezuma and husband Angelo of Omaha, Nebraska; son David Broich and wife Deb of Wimauma, Florida; daughter Diane McClellan of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughter Teresa Thompson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; daughter Kim Stuhr and wife Shawn of Papillion, Nebraska; daughter Felicia Parker and husband Donn of Omaha, Nebraska; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Lois was predeceased by her beloved husband, Louis; her parents, Arthur and Rose (Ehlers) Stuhr; her parents-in-law, Tony and Bertha Broich; her brother, Lyall Stuhr; and her daughter-in-law, Kathy Broich.

Lois (Stuhr) Broich will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a woman who enriched the lives of those around her with her unwavering love, dedication, and creative spirit.
