Velma K Nieland, age 90 of Lake City, IA, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the Accura HealthCare Lake City Nursing Home. Velma was born on December 5, 1933, to parents John and Rose (Freking) Nieland in Lake City, IA. She grew up on a farm between Lake City and Auburn attending #9 Calhoun County Country School. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and graduated from the Lake City High School class of 1952.
Velma worked in the business office at the McCrary-Rost Clinic in Lake City, Iowa. She helped at the church as a secretary and always enjoyed her time spent with friends playing cards, sewing, and gardening. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her Brother Robert Nieland of Eldridge, IA; and Niece Jodi Thompson of White Bear Lake, MN. She was preceded in death by her Parents John and Rose; and Brothers Marvin and Laverne Nieland.
