Maple River Area Park Inc. is hosting its first fundraising effort to raise money to complete interior renovations to the inside of the shelter house at Maple River Area Park. The non-profit organization is in charge of the park’s upkeep and acquiring funding to complete any necessary work. Treasurer for the group, Anna Malcom, says many improvements have been made over the last few years; this time, they are focusing on the shelter house.
Projects that have been completed over the last few years have been updated playground equipment, volleyball net, cornhole games, baseball equipment, a large awning on the shelter house, and new tables and chairs. Those have been purchased through grant money and donations from KR and Karla Buck. Malcom says the organization was brainstorming other ways to build up funding besides donations and grant money and came up with this fundraising event, which has a local tie to the Maple River Community.
