Absentee voting continues to see a growth in popularity in Carroll as nearly 1,500 ballots were submitted by Tuesday morning. According to Carroll County Auditor, Kourtney Irlbeck, her office processed 1,477 votes by the 11 a.m. deadline. When compared to the Feb. 7 vote for the Carroll Athletic Complex, which included the entire Carroll Community School District, the numbers turned out very close. In that election, 1,557 absentee ballots were calculated, a difference of less than 100. The issues up to voters today is the approval of a $3.8 million project to renovate the Carroll Public Library and the choice between LaVern Dirkx, Matthew Hodges and Ron “Woody” Beyer to fill the remaining term of an at-large city council seat. Polls are open from noon until 8 p.m. Carroll voters in Ward One can submit ballots at St. John Lutheran Church at 801 E. 18th St. Ward Two and Ward Four voting is at the First United Methodist Church at 1621 N. Main St, and Ward Three voters should report to the Courthouse Meeting Room at 114 E. 6th St. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you results of the election live on 1380 KCIM, 93.7 KKRL and 106.7 KIKD when they become available.
