By the end of November, Gov. Kim Reynolds was able to complete her 99th county tour for the 2017 year, after getting a late start following her swearing in on May 24. The governor was able to complete a total of 303 public events in 189 days. During her trips across the state, Gov. Reynolds stressed her four top priorities for Building a Better Iowa, which included: creation of a competitive business environment; developing the country’s most innovative energy policy; educating children for the “knowledge economy;” and training Iowans for the jobs of tomorrow. “I made a pledge, first as lieutenant governor and now as governor, to visit all 99 counties each year,” Gov. Reynolds says. “I believe it’s the best way to connect with Iowans. I get to hear about the issues they face and their solutions for building a better Iowa.” She adds that, “Every Iowan has a voice, and as governor, it is an honor to meet with so many people in every county, every year.” This is her first 99-county tour as governor and seventh since taking office in 2011 as lieutenant governor. Current Lt. Gov., Adam Gregg, will conclude his 99-county tour this month.
