The Iowa State Patrol is investigating an accident on U.S. Highway 20 between Lytton and Rockwell City that killed one person and injured four others. The initial report shows that at approximately 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, a 2005 Dodge Caravan was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of the highway when they hit a 2017 GMC Yukon head-on. Both vehicles came to rest in the highway’s median. The 37-year-old driver of the Caravan was pronounced dead on the scene. All four occupants of the Yukon were transported for treatment of their injuries and the 53-year-old driver was later airlifted to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. The names of those involved have not yet been released. The Lytton and Rockwell City Fire Departments assisted at the scene.
