A tractor was a deemed a total loss after it was engulfed in flames in a field near Ralston Friday night. The Glidden and Ralston Fire Departments were dispatched at approximately 6:32 p.m. to a corn field about a half-mile north of Ralston on Zephyr Avenue. When firefighters arrived on scene, they located a Case IH 350 fully engulfed in flames. According to Fire Chief, Tom Weber, the tractor’s owner and operator, Butch Gregory, said the engine failed catastrophically and ignited the vehicle. Crews were on scene for approximately 45 minutes to extinguish the fire and ensure nearby stover did not also ignite. No injuries were reported during the incident.
