The Scranton Fire Department was dispatched Monday evening on a report of a vehicle on fire at the southern edge of Scranton’s city limits. At approximately 8:53 p.m., the department responded to 240th Street near the intersection with E Avenue. Upon arrival, crews located a 2012 Chevrolet Cruse with visible flames in the engine compartment. The driver, 30-year-old Raymond Cornelius of Scranton, did not report any injuries. However, the vehicle was deemed a total loss. An investigation determined the cause of the fire was improperly installed after-market equipment. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
