Seven inches of rain was reported in Guthrie County Sunday evening, closing down a section of Highway 141 from Coon Rapids to Highway 4. The heaviest hit area is Bagley, where the record of nearly four feet of standing water on June 30, 1986 was surpassed by several inches on Monday. Portions of Highway 141 were covered by nearly eight inches of water and authorities are estimating that at the rate it is receding the road won’t be completely open until sometime after 8 p.m. tonight (Tuesday). Sump pumps are working overtime and one couple in Bagley had to be rescued from their home during the height of the flash flooding. Springbrook State Park, which is seven miles south west was evacuated prior, but a dozen people have been left stranded until the waters recede. Area meteorologists are calling for heavy rain in the area again in the next few days.
