Boes Ready To Take Action

Misty Boes is a life-long resident of Carroll County, and after marrying a Kuemper graduate, she became a member of the Carroll Community over 15 years ago. It has been a combination of her financial background as a controller for American Professional Quilting Systems for the past 12 years, her observations of what is transpiring in city government as of late and the growth of her family that has made now the opportune time for Boes to run for the second-ward seat on the Carroll City Council.

Like other candidates, she says it is difficult to pinpoint any one thing that initiated her run; but she did discuss the three top issues she believes Carroll will face in the near future.

Boes is ready to dive in, do the research necessary on the issues brought to the council and wants to talk to the constituents, not just those in the second ward, but everyone in Carroll. She said listening to the people is probably the biggest part of the job, but one more step beyond that needs to be addressed.

Boes applauds the council for their partnership with the county on the housing study.  She says it will be exciting to take that information and move on, particularly when it comes to addressing the shortfall of middle-range housing in the area. Not only will this be a big factor in current and future economic development, Boes believes the council needs to continue investing in current businesses, working to bring people to town and finding ways to keep them here. She sees her experience and personality as a means to help ensure the continued success of the community for her three children, and beyond.

Boes will join the other six candidates for Carroll city office at the chamber-sponsored forum next Wednesday, Oct. 14, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Carroll High School auditorium. Carroll residents are encouraged to send questions to the Carroll Chamber of Commerce for use at the forum. These can be submitted in person at the chamber office, or by following this link: chamber@carrolliowa.com.
