Family Feud Fun Raises Serious Money For Main Street Program

The third annual Family Feud hosted a full-house last Friday night, and the fundraising event for Main Street Manning raised some eyebrows along with a whole lot of money. The total net revenue for the event came in at approximately $9,000 according to board president, Ron Reischl; well over the nearly $5,000 raised last year. Four local family teams competed for a grand prize of $200 in Manning Chamber Bucks, and tickled the audience with the wholesomeness of one pairing contrasted against the “who knows their manure” competition between a fertilizer equipment manufacturing family and that of a previous state politician. The fertilizer equipment family, The South O’ Towners won the tournament style format, but a popular vote was held by taking monetary votes. With a total of $563 collected for the eliminated teams, the Behrens Bunch found themselves back on stage for the championship—going on to win the whole thing. In between rounds, live auctions were held, raising a total of $5,200 for donated items such as a Great Lakes Getaway package and Texas-Style BBQ. Organizers thank everyone who turned out and showed their support as well as all of the volunteers and staff that worked so hard for months to make this happen. The money raised will be used to research and apply for grants and funding for the Main Street program as 100 percent of all grant monies goes toward the projects.
