After an area examination of demographic trends, traffic and growth patterns as well as competition within the area, the real estate team from Dollar General Corporation made a recommendation for construction of a new store in Manning. Company representatives said they saw a need for a convenient shopping option and felt Manning would be a great fit for them and the new store a winning proposition for area shoppers. The location, on the north side of Highway 141 on the east end of town, will see the approximately 7,300 square foot retail space opening in the spring of 2016, barring any delays or changes to the construction schedule. The store will be their signature, free-standing space stocked with home essentials and grocery basics. Dollar General typically hires from six to 10 employees, depending on a location’s individual needs and will be accepting applications for both full- and part-time positions on their website at www.dollargeneral.com/careers. Currently, Dollar General has 187 locations across the state of Iowa and, as of the end of October, is operating in 43 states with a total of 12,396 stores.
