The Sac County Sheriff’s office reports the arrest of one person and pending charges on another after a routine traffic stop South of Odebolt on Highway 39 at approximately 3:35 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13. Eighteen-year-old Michael Coates of Farragut was pulled over for a speeding violation, but the deputy detected the smell of marijuana coming from the inside of the car. An investigation and search uncovered a small amount of marijuana, a scale and smoking devices. Coates’ passenger, 19-year-old Aidan Case of Sidney, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Michael Coates was detained and a urine sample was obtained and sent to the Department of Criminal Investigation for analysis. OWI charges are pending the results of those tests.
