On Monday the United Way of Carroll kicked off their 2016 Campaign setting a fundraising goal of $90,000. The main focus of the organization, says Executive Director Ann Pottebaum, is to improve education, income, and health for local families by providing the building blocks they need for a good quality of life.
The United Way of Carroll partners with over twenty health and human services programs in the area which in turn provide a variety of services aimed at helping people become more self-sufficient.
It’s not just the partner agencies and programs who support the United Way, says Pottebaum, but also its volunteers who bring new energy and new ideas.
Businesses can also help support local organizations through an offered Employee Match Program through the United Way. To learn more, donate, or volunteer visit www.CarrollUnitedWay.org or call 712-292-5671. The first fundraising event of the 2016 Campaign will place this Thursday, November 19, at the Piranha Club’s Chili Throw Down. People from around the area will be offering up their best chili in the contest for prizes, and for a free will donation those competing chilies will be devoured by enthusiasts. To enter the Chili Throw Down email your name, phone number, and the name of your Chili to deb@carrollbroadcasting.com; to enjoy the chili attend the event which runs from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm this Thursday.
