A bipartisan coalition of the nation’s governors who are dedicated to the development of wind energy resources announced this week they have named Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo as the new chair and vice chair of the Governors’ Wind Energy Coalition for 2016. Governor Branstad says he looks forward to working with the group to help the wind energy industry diversify the nation’s energy portfolio and drive economic development in our states. Iowa’s long history of leadership dates back to Governor Branstad’s first year in office in 1983 and policies that were developed then that have brought the state to the forefront in wind energy. In 2014, 28.5 percent of all energy produced in Iowa came from wind.
