An overnight fire has claimed the life of at least one Breda resident. The Sac County Sheriff’s office reports that authorities were called to the scene of a house fire in the 3000 block of 390th Street on Friday morning at 7:55 am. The Auburn Fire Department also responded to the scene to discover that the structure had completely burned to the ground. Upon further investigation it was determined that the occupant of the home had not shown up for work and all the vehicles were accounted for at the residence. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was then contacted and investigators discovered human remains inside the home at around 1:00 pm Friday afternoon. Those remains have been taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny for an autopsy and identification. The individual’s name has not yet been released. The fire was believed to have occurred during the early morning hours, and is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Sac County Sheriff’s Office. The Sac County Secondary Road crew was called in to further assist at the scene with pumps and an excavator. We’ll bring you further details as they become available.
