Mark Beardmore, Carroll County Supervisor for District 5, has announced he will not be running for reelection to a third term this fall. Beardmore said in a press release that it is not only a core belief in term limits that has prompted this decision, but it is also a desire to realign his personal focus on his family, spiritual and professional life. He said as the areas of his life he values most, they have not been receiving the time and attention they deserve. Beardmore is General Manager of Wittrock Motors, and says he is thankful that Kevin Wittrock has been gracious and flexible when it came to his obligations to the County, and with another seven to 10 more good years left, he liked to devote more time to ushering in the fourth generation when Wittrock’s son, Avery, joins the team in 2017. Beardmore said during his two terms, he is most proud of being part of a team that has lowered taxes, improved public awareness and communication and that the county is in good financial condition. Property owners pay less in actual county taxes today, he said, than when I entered office in 2009, and I am proud to be able to defend the taxpayers first while also enhancing services and infrastructure. Beardmore added it has been an honor and a privilege to serve as a Carroll County Supervisor and his pleasure and honor in working with and for some of the finest people he has ever known. He will miss many parts of the experience, but plans to remain active and interested in local government as he continues to advocate for what is best for the people of Carroll and Carroll County. The Supervisor seats for Neil Bock of District 1 and Gene Meiners of District 3 will also be on this fall’s ballot.
