Heavy Fog Results in Two-Vehicle Accident Sunday Morning

At approximately 10:59 a.m. on Sunday, March 13, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident on Iowa Highway 141 at the intersection with Granite Ave. west of Templeton. Eighty-five-year-old Donald Edmund Hinners of Carroll was turning onto Highway 141 from Granite Ave. in a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado, but he did not see a westbound 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 55-year-old Rebecca S. Spires of Hordville, Neb. because of the heavy fog. Hinners pulled into the intersection and struck the Spires vehicle. No injuries were reported, but there was an estimated $2,000 in damage to the Hinners vehicle and $1,500 in damage to the Spires pickup.
