Wolf Pack For Hunger Reaches Food Packaging Goals

The Wolf Pack For Hunger food packaging event, organized by the IKM-Manning Schools and C3 churches of Manning, was held last Wednesday, April 6, beginning at noon and continuing into the early evening hours. Area communities came together in this second-annual event to package 50,000 meals and raise over $15,000 in the fight against hunger, which is $5,000 and 10,000 meals over what was accomplished last year. Over 300 volunteers donned hair nets and aprons and worked to package the macaroni, protein and dried cheese meal packets throughout the four afternoon shifts. Volunteers ranged in age from four to over 80, with all working together to supply food to communities in Audubon, Carroll, Crawford and Shelby Counties. One of the organizer’s, Jean Stadtlander, said this is an event that defines the true meaning of communities cooperating. It is a fundraiser filled with fellowship, fun and relationship-building while working toward a common goal. “We are truly blessed with many wonderful leaders and volunteers,” she said. The packaging event was facilitated by Outreach, Inc., and spearheaded by 1977 Manning High School graduate Leon Sporrer. The Union-based Outreach is dedicated to improving the lives of children in need, both at home and abroad, and has earned the Points of Light Award for this long-standing commitment. In addition to the meals packaged and money raised, over five boxes of non-perishable items were collected for the Manning Food Pantry, which serves any families within the IKM-Manning School district. The Wolf Pack for Hunger accepts donations year-round. Learn more about sponsorships and how to complete an online donation, look below and follow this link.
