Carroll County Engineer, Dave Paulson, brought a special request from a landowner to the Carroll County Board of Supervisors. He said they had toured the intersection of Aspen Ave. and 210th Street, to the south of Westside about two years ago.
He said even though this is a bit of an unusual request, it looks like having the intersection lowered could improve safety and visibility with a more level approach to the corner. Supervisors questioned Paulson about financial responsibility for the project.
The portion of expenses Vetter would have to reimburse the county for, Paulson said, would be approximately $2,500, but Vetter would also be responsible for salvaging the gravel on the road and adding what is needed after the dirt bed is removed. Supervisors discussed whether or not there will be a time limit placed on the project as they don’t want to see the road closed for a long period of time. Paulson said he believed dirt moving should take only a couple of days. Since the supervisors had not been to this area for several years, a trip back to review the site before approval was suggested to Paulson.
Supervisors also asked Paulson to speak with Carroll County Attorney, John Werden, about bonding and liability insurance requirements that would need to be met to protect the county from a project that doesn’t get completed or completed to county’s road construction requirements. No action was taken on the request at this time.
