Midwest Medical Transport Company—Midwest MedAir, which was founded in Columbus, Neb. in 1987, has been one of the fastest-growing medical transport companies in the Midwest, having expanded to 15 locations across Nebraska and Western Iowa. They are pleased to announce an Airbus EC135 single-pilot, IFR, certified, twin-engine helicopter will be finding a new home in Audubon in the near future. The team will be celebrating that announcement at a special groundbreaking ceremony, along with an open house. On Friday, April 29, from 9 to 11 a.m., Midwest Medical Transport Company will showcase their newly renovated station at 319 Market Street in Audubon. Following that at noon, they will hold the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Airbus at the Audubon County Airport on Highway 71 south of Audubon. The helicopter is an airborne emergency room, offering the ability to provide critical care to the patient in any mode of flight. It is configured for a pilot, flight nurse, flight paramedic and one patient and boasts a maximum speed of 155 knots, or 179 mph, and a maximum cruising altitude of 20,000 feet. Normal range for the aircraft is approximately 300 miles.
