Hitch Pin Fails, Causes Single-vehicle Accident Near Scranton

At approximately 2:56 p.m. on Monday, April 25, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office reported to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on J Ave. near 290th Street south of Scranton. A 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, owned by Landus Cooperative and driven by 22-year-old Kolan Michael Dolph of Gowrie, was pulling a dual anhydrous ammonia tank southbound on J Ave. As Dolph began slowing for a stop sign, the hitch pin failed and the ammonia tanks and wagon gear struck the back of the pickup. The truck jackknifed into the west ditch, coming to rest on its side. Dolph was not injured but damage to the pickup was reported to be $10,000.
