Area County Primary Election Results

Unofficial results are now in for several area counties. Audubon recorded just short of 34 percent voter turnout with 1493 voters. Republican Rick Thompson led the voting for the Audubon Board of Supervisors position with 711 votes, closely followed by current supervisor Todd M. Nelsen with 658 and Doug Sorensen with 572. Republican candidate for Audubon County Sheriff, Brian Juelsgaard recorded an unofficial 705 votes over Republican Sheriff, Todd W. Johnson with 624. In the US Senate Democratic Primary, Patty Judge won Audubon County with 92 votes, Robert M. Hogg received 26, Thomas Fiegen ended with 15 and Bob Krause with 12. And Republican Incumbent Fourth District Representative Steve King tallied 731 votes to Senator Rick Bertrand’s 346.

 

In Calhoun County, the District Three Board of Supervisors race was between three candidates, with Richard Finley receiving a total of 130 votes to 106 votes that went to each of the other two candidates, Carl Dean Legore and Tom Maulsby. It was a close race for the Auditor position with Republican Karen Norine edging out Robin Batz with 371 votes to 356. In the federal race for the Democratic nominee for US Senate, Calhoun County cast their ballots for Patty Judge with 134, followed by Robert Hogg with 66, Bob Krause with 19 and Thomas Fiegen with 14. Steve King took an easy lead for the Republican District Four US Representative race with 496 votes to Rick Bertrand’s 207.

And in Crawford County, there was only one Democratic Primary race and that was for US Senate, with Patty Judge gaining 26 votes, Robert Hogg collecting 15, Bob Krause recording 11 and Thomas Fiegen rounding out the field with 3. As with the other counties, Republican incumbent in the US House of Representatives, Steve King led Bertrand in Crawford County with 122 votes to 34. There was one local Republican primary for two seats on the Crawford County Board of Supervisors. Jerry Buller received a total of 110 votes, while Cecil Bloom ended with 81 and Michael Fink with 69.
