There were two Republican and one Democratic elections on the Carroll County ballots Tuesday night and precincts reported lower than normal voter turnout for this year’s primary election. For the Carroll County Board of Supervisor District Five seat, that will be vacated by Mark Beardmore, there were two Republican candidates, Richard Ruggles and Tony Konkler. The unofficial results show a total of 777 votes cast with Ruggles winning the primary with 504 votes to Konkler’s 273. US Fourth District Representative, Steve King, took 587 of the 843 votes cast in that election, winning the county over Republican Senator Rick Bertrand. And in the Democratic race for the US Senate nomination, a total of 454 votes was spread between four candidates, with Patty Judge taking 293, Robert Hogg gathering 100, Bob Krause collecting 42 and Thomas Fiegen finishing out the night with 19.
