At this morning’s (Monday) Carroll County Board of Supervisors meeting, the supervisors entered into a discussion on whether or not they would be becoming members of the Iowa Drainage District, and whether or not they would continue to support the legal fund for the pending lawsuit filed by Des Moines Water Works against the drainage districts in Sac, Calhoun and Buena Vista Counties. Supervisor Chair, Neil Bock said the first order of business was to discuss the membership.
The second part of the issue became the focus of the conversation. Last year, Carroll County showed their support with a $5,000 pledge. The same has been requested of them this year.
Bock added that the lawsuit, which was originally slated for August of this year has been postponed until June of 2017. Supervisor Mark Beardmore was the sole vote against the support.
Bock concluded that both sides have some merit and the final decision will be made at their next meeting on Monday, June 20.
