Twenty-two volunteers who have logged over 415 hours of giving were recently recognized at the St. Anthony Regional Hospice Volunteer Appreciation Banquet. These volunteers offered their support, prayer and companionship to patients and families who are facing serious and life-limiting illnesses. A very special volunteer, Connie Weber of Breda, was named the 2016 Hospice Volunteer of the Year. She was thanked for dedicating more than 11 years to the program, contributing over 42 hours as a volunteer and driving 830 miles in service to patients and their families this past year. “My family was directly impacted as a result of St. Anthony Hospice volunteers when my parents were in need,” Weber said. “I don’t know what we would have done without them. I knew how much that helped my family and I wanted to help others in the same way.” Weber will be recognized again for her service in September at the Hospice and Palliative Care Association ceremony for Iowa volunteers.
