Ken Behrens, Mayor of Templeton, and Leroy Schultes, a member of the Eden Township Trustees, have made a request of the Carroll County Supervisors to approve a resolution that would allow them to add a tract of land to their current industrial park/urban renewal area. The approximately 10-acrea plot of farmland up for consideration is located at the intersection of Ivy Ave. and 305th Street and will be the future home of Waspy’s Truck Stop. Supervisor Gene Meiners said this is an important step for the community and the new business.
Behrens added that the city would need to do additional work on the plans to take advantage of the tax increment financing.
The Supervisors all agreed with Marty Danzer when he said this project and this proposal are all positives for the community of Templeton.
Templeton has the plans ready for implementation, but are waiting for all entities to approve annexation before any services can be run to the site. With the Supervisors approving the resolution, this keeps the process moving, but Behrens said the current timeline will see work beginning early to mid-August. In the mean-time, the groundwork continues for Waspy’s Truck Stop with the excavation for placement of seven 20,000 gallon tanks. The truck stop will feature a large 24-hour convenience store, fast food, an automatic car wash and a wide selection of fuels, from diesel to flex fuels and kerosene. The aggressive construction schedules has a tentative opening for Waspy’s in October of this year.
