King Salutes All American Symbols By Keeping Confederate Flag

Steve King visited Carroll Area Nursing Service offices in Carroll yesterday (Thursday), and he also sat down and talked with Carroll Broadcasting about a variety of subjects. When asked if that flag was still there, he responded by saying it has been there a long, long time.

He thought it strange that no one mentioned there was a leather-bound, New Testament, shirt-pocket sized Bible sitting on the coffee table. That piece, he said, was carried into the Civil War by one of his great uncles. A student of history, King says he is pro-life, and if born in that time, he would have been an abolitionist and he is definitely anti-slavery.

He said this is an American flag, it is a piece of American history, and that history, he added, needs to be remembered accurately. And, that is why the flag remains.
