Baseball playoff season has arrived for the Carroll Merchants and they will be starting their post-season run against the Bancroft Bandits. On Aug. 1, the Merchants will host the Bandits at Carroll Stadium with the first pitch at 7 p.m. The two teams will play a three game series to determine who will advance to play the number one seed in the North bracket, the Sioux Falls Pilots. The last two games of the series will be in Bancroft on Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Animal Rescue of Carroll will be offering root beer floats for a free will donation and will have adoptable dogs at the event for fans to meet. The gates and beer garden will open at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, and if the Merchants advance deep enough into the postseason, they could potentially host the Corn Belt Summer Collegiate Baseball League Championship game on August 5.
