Only three days after being found not guilty by a Carroll County jury on the charge of dominion or control of a firearm or offensive weapon by a felon, 35-year-old Robert Oscar Whitenack was back in the Carroll County jail. The Carroll Police Department reports that Whitenack was taken into custody on Friday, Aug. 12, for suspicion of theft. It is alleged that Whitenack was responsible for the theft of a cell phone and keys from a former girlfriend. He is being held on a $500 bond. On Tuesday, Aug. 9, Whitenack was released after the not guilty verdict which stemmed from a May 25 incident in which he was found by authorities in the presence of a loaded hand gun. The following day, Whitenack was involved in standoff with several law enforcement agencies that closed down Highway 30 near Dollar General for more than two hours.
