Seating Remains An Important Topic For The Carroll Stadium Committee

At last night’s Carroll Stadium Committee meeting, seating capacity was once again one of the prime topics of discussion. A new rendering of the seating was available for committee members to review, and the only difference from the last drawings were that this schematic included the 10-lane track, increased from eight lanes on the west side, and new southeast entrance structure. Committee member, Scott Tigges, brought some important data to the event to help decide on any seating changes.

His research found that the largest number of attendees at a game in the last 5 years was 1,794 total fans in the stadium. One stadium committee member noted that the seat size they used for the planning put each seat at 18 inches. Potentially, the seat size for the stadium could be increased to 22 inches. This would not change the size of the structure, but it may make changes to the potential cost and building code requirements. Further research into what effect that change may make will be available at the next meeting. Committee member, Joel Lundstrom says seating is an important point to the community.

The committee’s next meeting has FRK architects scheduled to bring a new layout for review and will have pricing on all aspects of the stadium. No decisions were made at the meeting, and the committee wanted to wait until the price points are available to take anything to vote. The next Carroll Stadium Committee meeting is planned for Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 5:30 p.m. at Adams Elementary.
