The Sac County Sheriff’s office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are working together in a joint investigation of a shooting yesterday morning (Sunday) that resulted in the death of a 24-year-old Guthrie Center woman. At approximately 11:38 a.m. on Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office was notified of the shooting north of the Highway 71 and Highway 175 intersection east of Lake View. A male front-seat passenger was handling a loaded gun when it reportedly discharged, striking the female who was driving the vehicle. She was transported to Loring Hospital in Sac City and later air lifted to a Des Moines hospital where she died of her injuries. The identities of those involved are being withheld pending further investigation and autopsy results. The Lake View Police, Lake View Ambulance and Lake View Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
