Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) has announced that five businesses and two entrepreneurs were each awarded $10,000 at their Small Business Awards ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 20 in Ankeny. Kelsi Ziemann Artistry (KZA) of Des Moines and BigDeal Car Care of Adel were winners of the entrepreneurial business contest while Tj Tollakson of Ruster Sports in Des Moines was named the Young Entrepreneur of the Year and Clint Dudley of Shade Tree Auto received the Dennis Albaugh Award. The Small Business of the Year award was presented to Converse Conditioned Air in Ames. Lely, a global producer of robotic milking and feeding systems for the dairy industry, was named the Most Innovative Company while BirdDogHR, a talent management software and managed services company from Urbandale received the Top Growth award.
