Jefferson Authorities Continue Investigation Into Stabbing

Authorities in Jefferson are assuring residents that there is no cause for concern after a stabbing occurred earlier this week. At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19, officers from the Jefferson Police Department responded to a report of an assault at 506 North Oak Street. The victim reported to police that while in her back yard, a man appeared in front her, grabbed her head, whispered, “quiet, don’t say a word,” stabbed her and ran off. The woman, who crawled to the house to report the incident, was transported to the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, then later airlifted to a Des Moines hospital for treatment of the non-life threatening injury. Jefferson Police Chief, Mark Clouse, says they have not been able to find any evidence to support or refute the victim’s account, but they do not believe the public is in danger. The incident remains under investigation.
