At approximately 2:41 p.m. yesterday (Thursday), the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene of a two-vehicle accident in the 18000 block of Highway 71 north of Carroll. Forty-eight-year-old Steven Mark Uhlenkamp of Breda was driving a 2016 Ford F150 northbound on Highway 71, when he slowed to turn left into a private drive. Sixty-three-year-old Dennis James Hardy of Churdan was behind Uhlenkamp, also in a 2016 Ford F150, and reported to the deputy that Uhlenkamp had turned on his right turn signal, so he attempted to pass on the left. When the vehicle made the left-hand turn, the Hardy truck struck the left rear corner of the Uhlenkamp truck. Only minor damage was reported to the Uhlenkamp vehicle and there was an estimated $2,000 in damage Hardy’s truck.
