An investigation into last Monday’s stabbing incident in Jefferson has resulted in the arrest of the woman who submitted the initial report. Yesterday (Monday), a Jefferson Police officer arrested 38-year-old Stacie Maureen Clark on an outstanding warrant. Clark has been charged with the false report of an indictable offense to a public entity, a serious misdemeanor, for her report on Monday, Sept. 19. At approximately 9:30 p.m., Clark called the communications center saying while in her back yard, a man appeared in front of her, grabbed her by the back of the head, whispered, “quiet, don’t say a word,” stabbed her in the abdomen and ran away. Clark told officers she then crawled back to the house to report the incident. She was transported to the Greene County Medical Center, but later airlifted to Des Moines for treatment of her non-life threatening injuries. Jefferson Chief of Police, Mark Clouse, says the investigation and the evidence brought forward have proven the event was falsely reported. Clark was booked and later released on her own recognizance.
