At approximately 6:32 p.m. on Wednesday evening, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was notified about a vehicle on its side in the ditch just south of Highway 30 east of Glidden. A deputy reported to the scene on Velvet Ave., noticing deep ruts in the gravel leading up to where the 2002 GMC Denali had come to rest in the ditch, making it appear as if the driver had lost control. The driver, 31-year-old Emily Jean Bruhn of Lidderdale, was located by authorities and she told them that on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at approximately 6:30 p.m. she was talking on her phone while driving, became distracted and ran the vehicle into the ditch. There was an estimated $7,000 in damage to the Denali and Bruhn was cited for failure to maintain control.
