A recent 2016 Iowa Employer Benefits study revealed that despite the rising cost of health insurance premiums, Iowa employers are asking employees with individual and family coverage to contribute about the same amount they did in 2015. Those with individual coverage are paying about 17 percent of the total healthcare premium while those with family coverage are paying approximately 31 percent of the premium. The study also found that employer health insurance premiums increased an average of eight percent and 79 percent of employers report offering health coverage, a slight increase from 76 percent in 2015.
