The Iowa Economic Development Authority Board on Friday approved a request for nearly $1.6 million in tax benefits to help Templeton Rye with an expansion project. Documents show Templeton Rye plans to spend $26 million to build two barrel-aging warehouses in Templeton, where the company has been located since 2003. The expansion is expected to create 27 jobs. Last year, Templeton Rye settled lawsuits over its recipe and claims that the product was made in Iowa. Templeton Rye brand whiskey is currently distilled and aged in Lawrenceburg, Indiana — but bottled in Templeton.
