Thursday morning, at approximately 10:59 a.m., the Jefferson Fire Department and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office were called to a field fire in the 1200 block of 190th Street, northwest of Jefferson. Upon arrival, they found the fire had been started by a liquid manure transfer air compressor in the stalk field. Damage to the 300 CFM air compressor is estimated at $10,000.
