Jefferson Police Department Seeking Warrants For Forgery And Theft

The Jefferson Police Department has requested two arrest warrants upon completion of two separate investigations into incidents that occurred in late October. The first warrant is for 44-year-old Jason Dale Charlet of Minburn for theft in the fifth degree. On Oct. 30, the department received a report that a female customer at Wild Rose Casino Jefferson had walked away from an ATM and left her debit card inside. Surveillance video showed Charlet standing beside the machine, when he noticed the card was left, he went over and took it out. Charlet claims he laid the card on top of the ATM and did not take it. The second warrant requested is for 30-year-old Carl Allen Janssen of Denison for four counts of forgery, class D felonies, and ongoing criminal conduct, a class B felony. An investigation began Oct. 25 when the department was notified that a male suspect had written numerous checks in surrounding counties on his deceased father’s bank account. Four checks were written in Greene County in early July, two checks written to Casey’s General Store in Jefferson and two to the Casey’s in Scranton. In all events, the male purchased Iowa Lottery Tickets with the checks.
