Lake View Approves Massive City Street Project

Lake View has finalized and approved plans for a massive construction contract set to begin next year. The project is looking to improve the streets in the city and replace the surface for some of them. City Administrator, Scott Peterson, says the change will increase the lifetime of the roads.

The city awarded the bid for the project to Caliber Concrete from Adair at a cost of $763,296. Earlier this year in March, the city put out bids for the same project but were not happy with the prices offered. By waiting, Peterson says the city saved a huge amount with patience on the project.

The project will take place on 9th Street between Madison and Jackson, two blocks on 7th street from Jackson to the end of Jackson Road, three blocks on 5th street from Madison to the west and one block on Vine Street from 5th Street to 6th Street. Peterson says those areas will be impassable during the project, but it will not affect any residents to a large degree.

Construction in the area is scheduled to begin in Spring 2017. Work is expected to last throughout the summer, and the scheduled end of construction is planned for Aug. 31, 2017
