The Glidden City Council approved the first payment for work on the Albert Kruger Sr. Shelter in the Glidden Pool Park adjacent to the Aquatic Center. Glidden City Clerk, Suzy Danner, expects the project to last through the winter just for the exterior.
Albert Kruger Sr. was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden and donated a large portion of his estate to the City of Glidden and the church when he passed away. They have used that generous donation for a number of projects, including this shelter house. The first payment to Badding Construction for $52,628.05 was approved at Monday’s city council meeting. The city has been in need of a shelter like this for some time, according to Danner.
The first major event at the shelter when completed is the Glidden Sesquicentennial next year. The Albert Kruger, Sr. Shelter will also be available for rent like the other shelters, but prices for those are yet to be set.
