Guthrie Center Woman Airlifted To Des Moines After Car Is Crushed

A Guthrie Center woman was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines with serious injuries after a two-vehicle accident in Guthrie County yesterday (Thursday) morning. At approximately 10:20 a.m., 58-year-old Peggy M. Dentlinger had stopped her 2016 Chevrolet Cruze at a stop sign at the intersection of Justice Road and 190th Street, northwest of Guthrie Center. A large tilling machine, a 1990 2600 Hydr tractor, driven by 53-year-old Kenneth Wayne Crowder of Guthrie Center, was eastbound on 190th Street and making a left turn onto Justice Ave. Crowder was seated on the right-hand side of the tractor, looking over the hood and said he did not see the other vehicle at the stop sign. When making the turn, he turned short, pushing the Cruze backwards and driving over the top of the vehicle. He then backed off of the car before law enforcement arrived. There was an estimated $22,000 in damage to the Dentlinger car and $1,000 to the Hydr tractor. Crowder was uninjured but was cited for driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway. The Iowa State Patrol and Guthrie County Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene.
