Memorial For Eli Rowedder Approved In The Carroll Stadium

Students at Carroll High School (CHS) approached the board at Monday night’s meeting seeking approval for a memorial for the tragic loss of a young member of the CHS football squad, Eli Rowedder. Two-year-old Rowedder passed away after a drowning accident in July. Carly Loew and Nathan Hoffman brought the plans to the board and shared their intentions.

The students would like to see the memorial placed in the potential new stadium during its construction, and CCSD Superintendent, Rob Cordes, inquired about its location if a new stadium is not approved

The students have plans to fund raise for the project, but also requested assistance from the district if possible. Cordes did commit to help fund some of the memorial.

The board unanimously approved the placement of a memorial in “a stadium” to allow for the piece to be placed in a new stadium or the old one. The monument will be surrounded with spotlights and have either a grass or stonework surrounding. Further plans on the project are pending based on the results of the stadium vote planned for February 2017.
