Wet Road Surface Cause For Monday Night Accident

An 18-year-old from Grand Junction says the wet road surface was responsible for a single-vehicle accident last night (Monday) on old Highway 30 west of Jefferson. Kirby Gene Gathercoal was driving eastbound on 237th Street when he lost control of his 1996 Toyota Corolla, striking the west side of the guardrail on the Raccoon River Bridge. Gathercoal was not injured, but there was extensive damage to his vehicle. He was cited for failure to maintain control.
