Carroll resident, 33-year-old Jason Gibson, was one of two customers injured Wednesday when a car crashed into the Casey’s General Store on NW 6th Drive on the northwest side of Des Moines. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports that the accident occurred at approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday when 79-year-old Frank Calhoon lost control of his vehicle, went through a brick wall and traveled all the way through the building before crashing into a cooler at the back of the store. Gibson and another customer, 32-year-old James Roman, along with Calhoon were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. That incident remains under investigation.
