DeHart Named Provost Of DMACC Newton Campus

Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) has named Dr. Joe DeHart the new Provost of their Newton campus. DeHart is currently DMACC’s Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, where he oversees accreditation, assessment of academic programs, research and strategic planning. He will begin his role as provost on Tuesday, Jan. 3. “We’re excited that [DeHart] will take the next leadership step at DMACC,” said President, Rob Denson. “He has a history with the college and knows more data about our students and the college than anyone here. He will do an outstanding job at the Newton campus,” Denson added. DeHart says he is eager to be part of the vibrant and growing Newton campus and has set a goal to help students complete their career paths. One of his first major tasks will be to work with the DMACC administration to develop the $9 million Maytag campus that was recently donated by Reza Kargarzadeh and his family. Preliminary plans call for it to become a business park, new student housing and space for new and existing academic program expansions. Current Provost, Dr. Mary Entz, is retiring later this month.
