Additional CRP Acres Added For 2017

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announces that Iowa has received an additional 115,000 acres that will be eligible to be enrolled in the Continuous Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), for critical wildlife and water quality efforts. For landowners whose general CRP contracts expire in 2017, this may be the only opportunity available to re-enroll existing CRP back into the program. It is not yet clear whether there will be a general CRP signup in 2017. The Iowa DNR has created a webpage to provide landowners with more information about federal and state programs available as well as contact information for staff members who can assist with writing land management plans that benefit wildlife, water quality and the landowner. That assistance page can be accessed through a link included below. Applications can be submitted beginning Monday, Jan. 9.
